                         "THE GOSPEL OF MARK"

                             Chapter One

Mark begins his gospel with the ministry of John the Baptist (1-8),
followed by Jesus' baptism by John and temptation by Satan (9-11).
Jesus began his own ministry in Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of the
kingdom of God (12-15). Selecting four fishermen to become His
disciples (16-20), He went to Capernaum where He taught in the
synagogue and cast out an unclean spirit (21-28). At the house of
Simon (Peter) and Andrew, Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law, and after
sunset healed many more (29-34). The next morning after spending time
in prayer, Jesus started an itinerant ministry of preaching in the
synagogues throughout Galilee, casting out demons and healing a leper
(35-45).
